Interview with MLB Trade Rumors’ Tim Dierkes!
Today we have a special treat. Tim Dierkes, the creator of the popular baseball sites MLB Trade Rumors, and RotoAuthority. He was kind enough to answer a few questions.
1. Where is C.C. Sabathia heading?
The Brewers look like the frontrunner at the moment.
2. Will the Mariners, with their struggles, be starting a fire-sale?
I suppose you could call it a fire sale...most veterans should be available.
3. Will the Rays make a big splash?
I don't expect them to bring in a star player, but they are looking to acquire an outfielder and a reliever. Xavier Nady and Brian Fuentes have been mentioned.
4. Who will be some surprise buyers and sellers? And which player could be moved that no one is talking about?
Not too many people are talking about the Twins buying, but they ought to and maybe Bill Smith is surveying the market. The Braves could become a mildly surprising seller.
Jayson Stark brought up Aaron Harang as a solid dark horse to be moved yesterday. Let's go with that.
5. How did MLB Trade Rumors come about? Any advice for aspiring bloggers?
I had a fantasy blog going (RotoAuthority.com) but found myself putting hot stove stuff on there. I decided to create a separate blog for it, and that was MLBTR. It had a broader appeal and accidentally filled a niche, so people started reading. For aspiring bloggers: don't get into it for money, and don't create expectations that you'll end up doing it for a living. Just write daily for the joy of it.
