Offseason Plans-Braves
The Braves had perhaps false expectations after making an inspired run at the postseason last year. Let's see what they will do.
BRAVES OFFSEASON PLANS:
Who will they bring back?: I highly doubt Glavine will be back. Same with Mike Hampton. Smoltz is up in the air. Depends on the injury. Will Ohman might not be back, as he could be heavily sought after. Greg Norton, I think, will be back.
Who will they get?: I've heard rumblings from baseball sources who say that Kelly Johnson might be on the block. He's been a disappointment. If so, they could try to get Mark Ellis or Orlando Hudson. Could they be interested in Robbie Cano? Maybe a package involving Jair Jurrjens? Might not be enough. Outfield help would be great. Francouer is not a given anymore. They could look at Rocco Baldelli and try to make a run at Adam Dunn. They could also look at Bobby Abreu. As for pitching, a starter, like Ryan Dempster could work. Maybe Kyle Loshe? Bullpen is always an issue. Brian Fuentes could be targeted.
Projected '09 Rotation:
Jurrjens
Smoltz(If healthy only. A return to the bullpen is not out the question)
Loshe
Campillo
Reyes/Morton
Projected '09 Lineup:
McCann, C
Kotchman, 1B
Hudson/Ellis, 2B (only if Johnson is traded)
Escobar, SS
Jones, 3B
Abreu, LF
Anderson/Blanco, CF
Francoeur, RF
Relievers/Other Acquisitions:
Brian Fuentes, RP
Center could be a problem, and there isn't a great market out there. Next up is the Marlins.
