Hockey Preview
Ah. I love this time of year. Football's heating up, Baseball is in playoff mode, and my favorite sport, Hockey, is starting. Why do I love hockey? Simple. I think it's a better game. They are more civilized off the ice than some of these football clowns (Ocho Cinco, Chad), and have more respect for it. I've never heard of a hockey plater holding out. So, with that in mind, here's what you can expect from the 2008-2009 NHL season.
Best Team: Detroit Red Wings
No doubter. The line of Hossa-Datsyuk-Zetterberg is the best in hockey, by far, and up there in history.
Worst Team: LA Kings
Your time will come. A goalie would help.
Best Player: Alex Ovechkin
Sorry, Sid the Kid. Ovie is better, and plays with more passion.
Breakout player: Brandon Dubinsky, Rangers
As a Ranger fan, I watch this kid nightly. He's special. Can score, but is willing to park himself in front of the net, and take one for the team. 30 goals is not out of the question.
Breakdown Player: Todd Bertuzzi
I think he was good--key word being good. But ever since that hit on Steve Moore he hasn't been the same. I think he was a huge waste of money, Calgary.
Best Goalie: Marty Turco
I think the playoffs proved this. Henrik Lundqvist is a close second.
Best Youngster: Patrick Kane
Kane is gonna be a star. This year.
Now for some awards:
MVP: Ovie. See above.
Stanley Cup Prediction:
Red Wings vs. Penguins
A rematch. But it's still Red Wings all the way. Enjoy.
