Plax
This is really annoying me. Plaxico 'No Praxico' Burress, shot himself in the leg Obviously I'm glad he's okay. But the principle of it, the shenanigans of it are getting to me. You have incredible talent, Plax. You got the game winning pass in a Super Bowl. Someone tell him to get his head on straight! I can't deal with it. Because when you have that much talent, and waste it, it's terrible. You have your contract, you have your ring, play. Just shut up and play. Is it that hard?
NHL Power Rankings
Here they are:
1. San Jose
Easily they best team. Wonder how they will respond to postseason pressure

Champs still got it

Surprising inconsistency, but Hank Lundqvist is the best in the league.

When Alex Semin comes back, watch out.
6. Pittsburgh
Such a powerful offensive team.
7. Vancouver
When you have Luongo, you know you will be good.

How will they respond since Burke left?
10. Montreal
I'm not that high on this team, but they know how to score
11. Minnesota
Niklas Backstrom should get Vezina consideration
12. Calgary
Kiprusoff needs to be the Kipper of old
13. Philadelphia
Not great, not bad, somewhere in the middle
14. Chicago
When Towes, Kane, and Co. really mature, watch out.
15. Carolina
I think we can safely say the magic has come off of Cam Ward.
16. Buffalo
That hot start seems like ages ago.
17. Nashville
A scorer wouldn't hurt.
18. Phoenix
They could be in it, believe it or not.
19. Los Angeles
They will fade. I think.
20. Columbus
Rick Nash needs a playmaker around him.
21. St. Louis
Amazing power play doesn't translate into wins.
22. Ottawa
Alex Auld keeps them in game, but not enough
23.Colorado
I guess those high-priced free agents (I'm talking to you Ryan Smyth) haven't panned out.
24.Toronto
Will Brian Burke work his magic?
25. Islanders
Joey MacDonald is playing well, but you're not paying him for 15 years.
26. Atlanta
When will they start the Kovalchuk Sweepstakes?
27. Edmonton
They have a good young nucleus, but they are too young.
28. Florida
Have some scorers, need a goalie
29. Tampa Bay
Just a poorly run franchise
30. Dallas
Wow. Just, wow.
Marbury suspended
The soap opera doesn't end. Starbury was suspended for one game, for his refusal to play against the Pistons. Can they just let him go already? The longer this goes on, the messier it gets.
NBA Power Rankings
Here they are:
1. Boston
Huge start will carry them for a long way.
2. Lakers
I hope there is a rematch in June
3. Cleveland
Give LeBron the ball. Everything will work out just fine.

The beginning of the second tier of teams.
5. Orlando
I'm a big fan of this team. Dwight Howard is a monster

Shaq been's alright.

Still not sure if the Answer is the Answer.

A solid team with solid players

Something tells me they will be there in April and May
15. Miami
D-Wade is playing great.
16. New Jersey
I don't think they can continue this .500 pace, but for now, not bad.
17. New York
See above, but add in messy turmoil
18. Dallas
Nobody else but Dirk
19. Chicago
Derrick Rose will be a star
20. Golden State
Their playoff run must have been a fluke

I really thought they would be better, especially with Elton Brand

Danny Granger is the best player you've never heard of.
23. Sacramento
Jason Thompson has been a pleasant surprise.
24. Memphis
Give them two or three years.
25. Minnesota
I think they should have gotten OJ Mayo. I think they're thinking the same thing.
26. Charlotte
Some good pieces, nothing spectacular, though.
27. Milwaukee
They have some talent, not sure why they are in this position
28. LA Clippers
I think Zach Randolph will help
29. Washington
Just a bad team
30. OK City
See above.
NFL Power Rankings
Here they are, before a weekend slate of games for Week 13.
1. New York Giants
A lot will be determined after the game against Washington, but I think that they are the best team in football.
2. Tennessee
This one is a toss-up between the Jets and Titans. But, I'm not ready to throw the Jets into 'elite' status. I think it's Gmen, Titans in the elite group, then everyone else.
3. Jets
Something gives me a bad vibe, not sure what it is. The Tennessee win was impressive, but, I still have my doubts. Not enough consistency within the game.
4. Tampa Bay
I'm worried about the running game, but the D is really stepping up.
5. Pittsburgh
I feel like I say this every week, but Big Ben's shoulder has to be a concern. He's proven us all wrong so far.
6.. Indianapolis
Could they be hitting on all cylinders at the right time?
7.Carolina
A couple of bad performances in a row
8. Dallas
Where would this team be if Romo hadn't gotten hurt?
9. Baltimore
They won't overtake the Steelers, but a wild card spot is within reach.
10. Washington
A big test against the Giants; if they win, Wild Card spot is theirs
11. Atlanta
They continue to prove us all wrong. What a turn around
12. New England
Imagine where they would be if Brady didn't get hurt? Matt Cassel is due for a huge pay day.
13. Arizona
Two losses against the NFC East, although they will still win the West.
14. Minnesota
Starting to round into form
14. Chicago
Starting to round into form
16. Miami
A win this week, and they are right back in it.
17. New Orleans
Top priority this offseason has to be Defense. Drew Brees can't do it all.
18. Denver
It's amazing they're leading the AFC West.
19. Buffalo
I guess the hot start was too much to handle.
20. Philadelphia
I think the Donavan McNabb soap opera will reach full blast in the offseason.
21. Green Bay
Think they're missing Favre?
22. San Diego
Such a frustrating team. Should be much better.
23. Jacksonville
Was last year a fluke?
24. Houston
I still believe in this team-- for next year.
25. Cleveland
At least they have a QB in Quinn. They should get some value for Derek Anderson
26. Oakland
At least a little bit better than they were earlier.
27. San Francisco
I think Mike Singeltary will stay on
28. St. Louis
Draft a QB. Trust me. Bulger isn't cutting it.
29. Seattle
Maybe when they get some receivers they will be good.
30. Cincinnati
It seems like forever ago when they were considered an elite team.
31. Kansas City
They now need to build around Tyler Thigpen
32. Detroit
An embarrassment of a franchise.
Kiffin to be Vols Coach?
That's what ESPN is reporting. If true, I guess it's a good hire. Not my first choice. Or second. Or third. We here loved Mike Leach and Turner Gill. Were they interviewed? Don't know. Lane Kiffin was a great offensive coordinator at USC (of course he also had Reggie Bush, LenDale White, and Matt Leinart). But, in terms of recruitment, how will potential recruits respond? He was publicly belittled by Al Davis when fired from Oakland. There were trust issues. How will that correlate to high school students trying to find the right college, with competition from, most likely, Florida, Georgia and LSU? I would have loved to see a proven recruiter. Lane Kiffin's biggest recruit (if you can call it that) was Javon Walker. Not exactly a blue chipper. We'll see. Rocky Top might be harder than Oakland. We'll see. Personally, I don't think he was the right choice. But, we will see.
Burke is GM
In case no one saw this coming, Brian Burke is the new GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Formerly of the Ducks, I'll be interested to see how, or if, he turns it around. They've been playing okay, despite expectations. Obviously, scorers are needed. Goalie, Vesa Toskala, is all right. Let's see how he does. Toronto, I think, needs to be a successful hockey town, for the viability of the NHL. Let's hope he does okay.
Great Rants
I love YouTube. Partly because it's so easy to use. But mostly because I can get lost on it for hours. With that in mind, here are some things that I came across, all with the theme of great coaching rants.
Oh, how I love YouTube
