Obama Wins
Unless you've been living in a cave, you know that Barack Obama will be the first African American President, the 44th President of the United States of America. As the announcement went over the airwaves, I started to tear. Watching with my parents, they started to tear. Whatever you're politics are, this is truly amazing. To think, 30-35 years ago that this would happen, it's mind-boggling. I feel inspired. I feel encouraged. I have a renewed faith in this nation, that we have lived up to our promise, that all men are truly created equal, that we have created a more perfect union. We are able to pursue life, liberty, and happiness. Barack Obama is the symbol of America coming together. He shows us that what America set out to do in the 1700s has been validated. It took over 200 years. We've realized our potential.
I'd be remiss if I didn't congratulate Sen. John McCain on his campaign. He's a valiant American, a heroic American, he's really fought for us his whole life. We here at The Blog of Champions wish him the best.
Back to Obama. Obama has brought this nation together. I feel this pride, this headwind, this feeling of comfort, of safety, of faith, of togetherness in this nation that I have never felt before. I feel that all our problems will be solved, because we've solved the biggest of them all.
This night has been an night I will remember for the rest of my life. Sure, I've said that about other moments. I said that in February when the Giants won the Super Bowl. This is bigger than any Super Bowl, bigger than any World Series, than any Stanley Cup. In one night, America has grown, America has reached its original potential, the potential that our forefathers set out to reach. We reached that potential, but, now, our level of potential rises up farther than we could have imagined. As an American, I've never felt prouder.
One last thing. We have problems. Economy's down. Health Care needs to be fixed. But, now, I have more faith than ever. We will solve all our problems. Never before have I felt this confident, this sure about our nation. I am proud to be an American. I am so proud. I feel this sense of patriotism, this sense of pride, this sense of belonging, that I've never felt before. When I'm writing, I have tears crawling down my face. This election, we heard change, we've felt change. Tonight, America, We Made Change. God Bless Us All.
