BREAKING: Melrose Fired
Just 14 games in, the Tampa Bay Lightning have fired head coach Barry Melrose. He will be replaced by Rick Tocchet on an interim basis. The firing was somewhat justified; The Bolts were 5-7-4, good for 13th place. But here's my question: Why even hire him in the first place? I don't get it. He was part of the new ownership, part of the 'new' Lightning, yet they fire him quicker they he can even get suntan. I don't get it. The Lightning have talent. And some will say that the Lightning are trying to go Denis Savard on us, quickly replacing a coach into a season, and hopes that sparks something. (The 'Hawks fired Savard two games in and replaced him with Joel Quennville. They are now 7-3-4 after starting 0-3-0) But the Blackhawks have much more talent than the 'Bolts. I'm confused.
