Randy Johnson Wins 300
In what may be the last time we see a 300 game winner, Randy Johnson has eclipsed that immortal plateau of 300, winning against the Nationals Thursday afternoon. Johnson, 45, has been one of the most dominating pitchers of our era, striking fear in opponents with his 6'10 frame, especially in the '90s with Seattle. He's won Cy Youngs, pitched perfect games, won championships. A great career. Also,he might be the last person to win 300 games. With pitch counts becoming more common, and the bullpen becoming more specialized, starting pitchers simply do not get the number of wins per season needed to get close to 300. If this is indeed the last time someone wins 300 games, take it in. Take in the history, the immortal club of the best pitchers to ever play the great game of baseball. Take in the moment, because you may ever see it again. Reflect on baseball's past, think about its future. This is a special moment. We should all enjoy it.
