I think I'm most excited for the Halladay-Lincecum matchup. They are two of the best pitchers in baseball, and the two pitchers I would want in a big game.
The All-Star game, for me, is a nice break from regular season games, a game that I feel should not 'count'. I had lost interest in the game a couple years ago. I had not enjoyed the 'tie', or the fact that 'this one counts'. However, last year's game restored my interest. In a farewell to Yankee Stadium, we were provided with a 15 inning masterpiece, filled with tremendous pitching, and passion. I can only hope that this year's game gives us the same drama. I can only hope that St. Louis becomes a worthy host. I can only hope that Albert Pujols and Roy Halladay have a 10 pitch at bat, and Tim Lincecum and Joe Mauer have an 11 pitch at bat. I can only hope that Pujols hits one out, and that Josh Hamilton makes a tremendous play in the field. I can only hope that the Home Run Derby is half as good as last years. I can only hope that someone takes Josh Hamilton's role as Derby Darling. I can only hope that this is a great game. I can only hope. Hopefully, my dreams come true. My predictions? AL 5, NL 3. I'm taking Pujols in the Home Run Derby. Enjoy the game.
