Favre is Done (Well, We Think)
It's official: Brett Favre is not coming back. He's done. He's not going to play for the Vikings this season. The Star Tribune is reporting that Favre called the Vikings and said the mental and physical part of the daily grind was just too much.
Brad Childress had this to say:
“I just think it was a rare opportunity to explore a Hall of Fame quarterback who had background in the NFC and in this division,” Childress said. “He knows our system inside out … This doesn’t change anything about how I feel about our football team.”
I'll say this: Thank God. Now, for all we know, he might come back with the 49ers in a week or two. But, for now, he's retired. We can stop listening to his whining. We can stop waiting for a decision. He's done. An average QB (now, at least) has never gotten this much attention since, well, ever. Favre will one day enter the Hall of Fame. He'll be remember as one of the best QBs ever. But, there will be one asterisk--he whined, he waffled, and he didn't know when to say goodbye. Now that he's done, we can put that part of his career away, and focus on the good things.
