Phillies Get Lee From Indians
The first blockbuster of trading season has happened. Cliff Lee has been traded to the Phillies, along with Ben Fransisco. Indians got 4 well regarded prospects in return. I had thought the the Phillies were the likely landing spot for Halladay. But Lee is a nice alternative. The Cy Young winner of a year ago has a bad record, but is pitching to a 3.14 ERA. That should only improve pitching in the NL. Does this make the Phillies the favorite to win the NL? Maybe. They are a better team, but they still have to face the Dodgers. This makes them better team. I would've liked them to get Halladay--that would've made them the favorite to win the World Series. This is still a good move, and the price is a lot less.
