Reason 3,426 Why Hockey Is So Great
You may not remember, but hockey goalies never used to wear helmets. Yeah. These daredevils risked their lives every game. Only after Jaques Plante got hit, was there a change.
Now, every goalie (and player) wears a helmet. It's a good idea, too. Some shots register at 100 MPH. But, apparently, Ondrej Pavelec doesn't care. In this save, Pavelec takes off his helmet, because it's falling off, and makes a tremendous save. Take a look:

I love hockey. It's probably my favorite sport. For me, hockey is the only sport that provides such a code: You hit my guy, I'll hit your guy harder. T's the only sport where there are handshakes after a playoff loss. It's the only sport where Americans are outnumbered by a large number. It's great. I couldn't imagine life without it.
Now, these two videos, courtesy of the Puck Daddy blog, are not the best plays you'll ever see. In fact, they are so bad, that you would think you were watching a bunch of five year olds play hockey. But, where else do you see that? Where else do you see a play that makes you think: "Wait, that just happened?". Only in hockey. Enjoy these videos. And start watching hockey!
